One thing to know first

Dye sits on the hair. It cannot reach the follicle, which is where colour is actually made. That is why roots come back in three weeks, every time.

Three weeks after colouring

You do not have to stop colouring to start. The new growth is what changes. We will build that into your plan.

Hair grows about a centimetre a month, so the earliest a change shows at the root is a few weeks in. Give it the full window before you judge it.

Why it goes gray in the first place

Inside every follicle, copper drives tyrosinase, the enzyme that manufactures your pigment. Zinc supports catalase, which clears the hydrogen peroxide that otherwise bleaches the hair from the inside out.

When those two run low, the follicle keeps growing hair but stops colouring it. That is roughly 70% of why hair goes gray, and it is not genetic.
